Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you want to know before you book.
Quick answers about mobile detailing, ceramic coating, pricing, and how we work in Grand Rapids and the surrounding area.
Do you come to me?
Yes. Hammond Detailing is fully mobile and we work around your schedule, at home, at the office, or wherever your vehicle is parked. Our core service area includes Grand Rapids, Ada, Forest Hills, Rockford, East Grand Rapids, Kentwood, and Lowell. We are happy to travel outside that area too, a small transportation fee will be added to the total.
What do you need from me on-site?
Access to an outdoor water spigot and a standard exterior power outlet, plus a place to park the vehicle. If you are not sure whether your setup will work, just send a quick photo or text us before booking and we will confirm.
How does scheduling work?
We build the day around you. Tell us a window that fits your schedule (early morning before work, mid-day at the office, evenings, or weekends) and we will lock in an arrival time. Most appointments are booked within a few days, and we will always confirm the day before.
How long does a detail take?
Full interior and full vehicle details typically take 2-4 hours. Our Showroom package runs closer to 4-5 hours. Ceramic coating and paint correction services range from 6-14 hours depending on the package. We will give you a realistic time estimate when you book so you can plan around it.
How is pricing determined?
Pricing starts at the published package rate for a coupe or sedan. SUVs and crossovers are +10%, and 3-row SUVs or minivans are +25%. Heavily soiled vehicles, excessive pet hair, or excessive sand may require an add-on, which we will quote before starting. Minor pet hair is not upcharged.
What is ceramic coating and how is it different from wax?
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your paint, forming a glass-like 9H layer that lasts 3-5 years. Wax sits on top of the paint and washes off in weeks. Coating provides far better UV protection, chemical resistance, hydrophobics, and gloss.
What coatings do you use?
We use professional-grade Gyeon Quartz coatings matched to each surface: Gyeon Mohs Evo Q2 on paint, Gyeon View on windows, Gyeon Rim on wheels, and Gyeon Trim on exterior trim. Gyeon is a pro-only brand from the Netherlands trusted by certified detailers worldwide. Have a specific coating question or request? Just ask and we will walk you through it.
What is the difference between one-step and two-step paint correction?
A one-step correction uses a single compound/polish combo and removes roughly 60-70% of light defects (swirls, wash marks, minor oxidation). A two-step uses a dedicated cutting compound followed by a finishing polish and removes roughly 85-95% of defects, including deeper scratches a one-step cannot reach.
How do I maintain my ceramic coating?
Wash every 2-3 weeks using a pH-neutral shampoo and the two-bucket method. Avoid automatic brush car washes. Touchless washes are okay. We also include complimentary maintenance washes with the Premium and Performance packages.
Can you remove pet hair, stains, or odors?
Yes. Minor pet hair removal and odor treatment are part of our standard interior detail at no extra charge. Excessive pet hair is an add-on, and stain extraction is a separate add-on as well — just let us know ahead of time and we will quote it up front.
How do I book?

Do you offer a satisfaction guarantee?
Yes. If something is not right, let us know before we leave and we will make it right on the spot.
